I) Where are the lost and found offices in Rome ?


The procedure if you have lost an item in Rome is the following. Go to the police station to report your loss. If your lost property includes identification documents then the Municipal Police should notify you by post after around one week. But, you should always wait at least fifteen days after losing something before you start trying to get in touch with lost property.

To recover a lost item at the lost property office you will need to show a valid identity document and a complaint document that describes the item. For foreign citizens looking to reclaim lost items, it is best to talk to your consulate.

The person collecting the item will have to pay a small fee: €4.00 for the lost item, €5.00 for administrative costs, and €15.00 for the deposit (only when the item is lost for over 30 days). Lost possessions can also be delivered to your home if you are willing to pay the extra shipping and administrative costs. However, any identity documents will be released free of charge.
